My Life in 20 Questions – Tag

Me + Buzz

Back at it with the tags but like I mentioned in a previous blog post, it’s not like anything exciting is happening to me recently. So you’re going to have to put up with a few tags from me. Please enjoy!

1. Favourite colour?

Pink although if you knew me you probably wouldn’t guess that since I don’t own much in pink but it is my favourite colour. A lot of people guess purple is my favourite colour because of my hair and it is a close second.

2. Lucky number?

21 because for some reason I just love that it can be divided by 7 and 3 even though I don’t particularly like those numbers? It stems from a weird thing I do where I’ll count the letters in words and try to divide them and to make ‘pleasing numbers’ I’ll count punctuation and the dots on letters etc. as one of the numbers. I can’t explain properly but that’s where my love for the number 21 stems from.

3. Dream job?

My realistic dream job is to be a writer – I’m learning towards writing a YA novel. My unrealistic dream job would be to get paid to travel the world with my best friends.

4. Where do you see yourself living on your own?

It was always my dream to live in London and if I had unlimited money I don’t think I’d say no. I’d love to live in Tokyo one day (not gonna happen) but if I went alone I might struggle to make friends and it may get lonely considering I can’t speak the language. But I do love Tokyo. If I had to pick somewhere in Europe that excluded the UK I think I’d pick Amsterdam.

Tokyo 2

5. Favourite way to travel?

By train I think, you can’t get stuck in a traffic jam and I’m scared of planes whereas on the train I can chill out more easily and just stick my headphones in. And unlike a car at least you can get up and stretch out if needed. Obviously the train isn’t perfect as sometimes it’s overcrowded or dirty etc. but if given the choice I’d mostly pick the train.

6. What do you like to do in your free time?

Um pre-lockdown I loved going to the cinema, going out for meals and hanging out with my friends. Now that we’re in lockdown my new favourite thing to do is online shop for clothes (it’s becoming a bit of a problem actually). I also love the games nights I’m having with my friends, playing wordscapes on my phone, playing Animal Crossing on my Nintendo Switch Lite, reading and eating haha.

New Horizons Marina

7. Favourite clothing store?

If I’m buying clothes online my favourite place to start is Killstar, their clothes are a bit expensive but they’re worth it. I’ve ordered a few things and have always been thrilled with them. In real-life it’s a toss-up between Yours and PRIMARK. PRIMARK obviously because there’s a lot of choice and the prices are fair. I love the way the majority of my Yours clothes look (it’s a plus size store) but I’m not thrilled with the price on most of their stuff. I have managed to get some bargains from them in their sales though.

8. From what band would you like to attend a concert?

Although I’ve already seen them at the top of my list at the moment is My Chemical Romance. I had tickets for their June show which got postponed to next June and although it’ll be painful waiting over a year I’m so grateful it was postponed and not cancelled because getting those tickets was an absolute nightmare. Not a band but I’d low-key love to go to a Lizzo concert, I bet she’d put on an amazing show.

9. Favourite tea?

Presumably the drink and not my favourite evening meal? I don’t actually like tea unfortunately.

10. Do you collect something?

I collect snow globes from all the different countries I’ve visited – the only one I’m missing is Amsterdam. My Mom was due to go in April so I asked her to pick me one up but obviously her trip has been postponed but I’ll remind her to get one for me so that my collection will be complete until I go to the next place!

11. I can’t sleep without…

My doors, windows and wardrobe all need to be closed – those are really the only circumstances in which I wouldn’t be able to sleep, I’d be so uncomfortable if I knew they were open. I prefer two pillows but can sleep with one. I also prefer lights off but can sleep with the lights on. When I last looked after my brother he kept getting out of bed and I had to keep going in to resettle him so in the end I just slept with the lights on for convenience.

12. If you got 1 million all to yourself, what would you spend it on?

Me and my friends would be on a plane within minutes. Fly first class over to America, road trip through there before moving onto the next continent. We wouldn’t come back until the million was gone.

13. Favourite make-up brand?

At the moment I don’t really wear make-up – on the odd occasions that I do I get my friends or Mom to apply it for me so they just use whatever they have. I do want to start using it just so I can do it myself on our nights out without inconveniencing my friends to do it for me but we’ll see. I don’t have much patience.

14. Favourite snack?

Mine changes all the time, I’m such a snack girl. I like the Dairy Milk trifle pots (layers of joy I think they’re called?) at the moment, I can’t get enough of them. I’m also having a lot of Ben & Jerry’s but I’m not sure they’re really a snack, I only have them at the weekend whereas I have the trifle pot when I’m taking a break from work.

15. Favourite season?

Autumn without a doubt. You still get the odd sunny day but it’s not boiling anymore but it’s not as cold as winter. I do like winter but once Christmas is gone it’s a bit depressing.

16. Do you sleep with your door closed or open?

I already answered this one whoops! I don’t know how people sleep with their doors open, anyone or anything could sneak in. A couple of times someone’s come into my room in the middle of the night (not in a creepy way luckily) and it sort of comforts me to know that it does wake me up so I’d be prepared. I don’t need anyone sneaking up on me when I’m vulnerable and asleep.

17. Why did you start blogging?

I wanted to review the books I was reading and now suddenly my blogs become a bit of an ‘everything’ blog. Now I’ve been blogging for years and I continue because I like reading back my posts, I like that my friends read them and I just enjoy writing them. I’m not too fussed about how many people are reading, because I like reading them.

18. Do you have a subscription to a magazine?

No, I like reading the true life magazines but they’re only like 80p each and I don’t think they have subscriptions. I’ve been asking my Mom what she wants for her birthday and the only thing she could come up with was a ‘Woman & Home’ subscription for crying out loud.

19. What did you do last night at 0:00?

When I originally wrote this it was a Friday morning so it was a Thursday night so I was asleep. And actually managed to stay asleep until 4:25AM which actually was a miracle within itself. Today it’s Sunday and last at midnight I was just getting into bed – I played games with my friends until about 11PM (via social media before anyone assumes we broke the social distancing rules) and then browsed shein before finally going to bed.

20. Favourite perfume?

Whatever I can afford and smells nice when I pop into Boot’s before a night out.

There we have it, my life in 20 questions! I hope you enjoyed this tag, feel free to answer and send me a link to your blog!

Quarantine Tag Game

Social Distancing

So I found this tag on Tumblr and although no one tagged me in it I’m gonna give it a go. There’s not many questions but I have little else to write about in this lockdown so please enjoy!

Are you staying home from work/school?

Yes, we were all moved to work from home. When this originally started we were going to move onto a rota so half the team would be in the office whilst the other half worked from home and we’d keep alternating but it reached a point where they couldn’t open the office full stop. I last went in for half a day and we couldn’t leave until we’d sorted an automated voice for the phones and since I was in the office I got nominated by my colleagues to record the voice because I have a ‘posh voice’ apparently. It’s a bit cringe but my friends rang the number and said I sounded very professional so there’s that!

I’m low-key enjoying working from home whilst also missing my colleagues and being out and about. I miss walking over town during my lunch break whilst listening to music. I am saving money on Boots meal deals though.

If you’re staying home, who is there with you?

My Mum and Step-Dad. At first my step-dad still had to go to work whilst me and my Mum worked from home and that worked well but now my step-dad is home fulltime and it’s uh… Not perfect but working better than I thought. Luckily I think my Mum knows he’d drive us insane so she told him to keep himself busy whilst we’re working and he has been so far. We’ll see what it’s like in a few weeks I guess.

Me + Mum 3

Are you a homebody?

Uh yes and no. Whilst I always enjoyed having the odd day in the house I was generally out most nights of the week. I’d go out for meals, go to the cinema, meet my friends, go to the theatre etc. I also travel a lot. So whilst I can manage staying inside there are a lot of things I do miss.

Has an event that you were looking forward to been cancelled?

The first one isn’t an event but I was due to go to Sweden over the bank holiday weekend which obviously isn’t happening now. I am gutted because I wanted to see Sweden but after my horrible flight back from Orlando I was really dreading getting on a plane again. Also at the moment I’m just counting my blessings that I managed my big trip to Florida in February, I’d have been more devastated to miss that one so I can let go of Sweden.

I was due to go to the theatre to see ‘Friends – The Musical Parody’ which is now cancelled. I am disappointed but I got to see ‘Six – The Musical’ just before all this kicked off and that was fantastic.

Then I have nothing until June when I have a ticket to see Mary Poppins and a ticket to see My Chemical Romance and to be honest I’d be most gutted if those two were cancelled or I couldn’t go. I have a horrible feeling they will be but for now I’ll just cross my fingers.

What movies have you watched recently?

Me and my friends have discovered and are utilizing Netflix Party. We recently re-watched the Twilight series which I’d hated as a teenager but must confess I really enjoyed watching with my friends. Now we’ve moved onto The Hunger Games – we originally couldn’t watch it because it’s not available on the UK Netflix but Jess managed to find a way around the system and now we only have Mockingjay Part Two left.

Mockingjay Still

By myself I re-watched ‘The Little Mermaid’ and ‘Brave’ on Disney+ and I have much more in my watch list to get through. I also have a few films on Netflix that I want to watch.

What shows are you watching?

At the moment I’m working my way through ‘The Simpsons’ on Disney+ because it’s comforting and familiar, like I don’t have to think too much and it’s just light-hearted. I want to start a series but my attention span is so low that I’m not sure what I’m feeling. I want to rewatch all the old Disney shows, maybe that’s what I need during these trying times – old and familiar lmao.

The Simpsons

What music are you listening to?

I’ve literally had the ‘Six’ soundtrack on repeat ever since I saw the show, I immediately loved every song and I can’t stop listening to it. Between that I’m also listening to my usual K-Pop mixed with some My Chemical Romance and other various bands. Right this second I’m listening to Hands Up by Cherry Bullet (which you should definitely check out, it’s their best song yet). I’m also listening to the ‘Birds of Prey’ soundtrack fairly regularly.

Six The Musical

What are you reading?

After watching the ‘Twilight’ saga with my friends I decided to give the book a try because I really didn’t get to grips with it when I was a teenager, I tried and just really couldn’t get into it. So I ordered the first book and have finally managed to read it – so I’ve ordered the rest of the series to give a try.

Twilight 2

I am reading a fair amount; this is the perfect time to up my total for my reading challenge. I recently read ‘The Love Hypothesis’ by Laura Steven who is quickly turning into one of my favourite authors. I’ve also read ‘A Dark Secret’ by Casey Watson, she’s a foster carer who writes books about the children she’s looked after – I personally prefer Cathy Glass but I’m up to date with all of Cathy’s so decided to read more by Casey. Then I read ‘Are You Watching’ by Vincent Ralph which wasn’t incredible but did keep my attention sufficiently I suppose.

I’ve got a good amount of books to keep me going for the foreseeable future I think!

What are you doing for self-care?

Not a lot because I’ve actually been weirdly busy to be honest. I’m playing a lot of Animal Crossing which I think is good because it’s calm and is a good bit of escapism. I’m also trying to go for more walks as I’ve found I’m struggling to sleep at night recently and I think it’s because I’m obviously moving around far less than I normally would if I was still going out to work. Unfortunately though the walks aren’t that calming as I’m doing my best to social distance from everyone and some people just honestly don’t care and it really stresses me out but I think they do help with my sleep pattern so I’ll have to carry on.

There we have it, my quarantine tag! I hope you enjoyed, feel free to link me to your own answers.

Hella Cute Questions

Kawaii Monster Cafe

I found this on Twitter and decided to turn it into a blog post because why not?

1. Who’s the last person you held hands with?

I think it was Jess. A couple of weekends ago we went ice-skating and neither of us were very good at it. Becca was, she was skating around the rink like no one’s business. I got a bit more confident my only issue was that the skates were hurting my feet. Poor Jess fell over a couple of times, even when she was holding my hand.

2. Are you outgoing or shy?

Shy but I can be outgoing around people I’m comfortable with. Generally with strangers though I tend to be quite shy.

3. Who are you looking forward to seeing?

I’m not really looking forward to seeing anyone at the moment I guess? I don’t have plans to meet up with anyone in the near future so yeah no one at the moment?

4. Are you easy to get along with?

I’m generally nice and polite to everyone I meet but I think a lot of people find me a bit annoying when I stop being shy. I’m quite awkward and don’t always have a filter on what I’m saying, or I’m the opposite and I don’t say an awful lot so I think people tend to dislike me. Not everyone of course, I get on well with most people I meet I’d say – it just depends on whether our personalities blend which I guess is true of everyone?

5. If you were drunk would the person you like take care of you?

If this is referring to the person I have a crush on I’m going to have to disappoint everyone and say I don’t have a crush at the moment. My friends take care of me to an extent. I got quite drunk once and my friends were looking after me at the bowling alley but afterwards I had to walk to the bus station and it wasn’t convenient for them to look after me anymore so they let me get on with it – which was a bit annoying considering they’d been babying me all night but okay.

My other friends, Jess, Hirst and Becca do take care of me even if they’re drunk too and I prefer them when I’m drunk because although they don’t let me do anything too stupid or crazy they don’t treat me like a little kid either. They have a good balance of fun and sensible and we always make sure we all get home safely. So yeah, I prefer drinking with them.

6. What kind of people are you attracted to?

I am quite shallow and tend to fall for looks before personality but I can fall for someone if they’re nice to me too. It’s quite bad actually, a guy that worked at the co-op gave me a discount on my chocolate once and I thought about him for the rest of the day. I accidentally bumped into someone in London and as I opened my mouth to apologise they smiled at me and went “So sorry, Darling!” Usually I hate when strangers give me pet names but this was quite sweet. I’ve kind of lost the point a bit here…

I think it’s a mixture of both, I can be attracted to looks or I can be attracted by personality. Personality is generally better because although someone might be good-looking they might actually be an asshole. A great example is a guy I went to college with – very good-looking. Also a massive dick.

7. Do you think you’ll be in a relationship two months from now?

Uh, no. I don’t really speak to many boys, the only ones I’m friends with are in relationships, and I’m not really interested in any of the girls I know. So I highly doubt it.

8. Who’s on your mind?

My brother but only because I’m a bit nervous I’m gonna bump into him soon. I won’t even get into it at the moment!

9. Does talking about sex make you uncomfortable?

No, I don’t really see the big deal. I have a laugh about it but uncomfortable isn’t the word I’d use.

10. Who was the last person you had a deep conversation with?

Um I’m not sure, it depends on what you define as deep. I don’t think I have a ton of deep conversations with people but if I had to guess it was probably Becca.

BTS Wembley 3

11. What does the most recent text you sent say?

‘Well hopefully he’ll get arrested then xxx’ – text sent to my Mom. I’m not gonna add context to that haha!

12. What are your 5 favourite songs right now?

So glad I’m allowed to pick five, I could never narrow it down to just one!

BTS (Jin) – Epiphany
BTS – Idol
miss A – Breathe
CLC – Me
Weki Meki – Picky Picky

To be honest there would probably be more BTS songs in there because I saw them live not that long ago and can’t stop listening to their songs but I thought I’d best put a bit more variety.

BTS Wembley 13

13. Do you like it when people play with your hair?

I don’t really know how to answer because my instincts say yes I love that but the other part of me doesn’t really like it. I hate people like plaiting my hair or brushing it or generally doing anything with it. So I’m not really sure.

14. Do you believe in luck and miracles?

Yes, I’m a massive believer in God and I have had times where I’m certain he’s sending me a sign or he’s performed a miracle for me – I would sound crazy if I started describing them but I think you need to look out for the smaller things or you won’t notice them. Like, I don’t believe that God, luck or miracles could fix all my problems but He has done things for me before that I feel pretty certain of.

15. What good thing happened this summer?

We’ve actually only just entered summer so nothing yet although I have a few things to look forward to. I can’t narrow it down to one thing but here are some good things that happened last summer – I went clubbing with my friends for the first time, me and Becca went to Pride in London, I went to Paris to see 24K, I went to Edinburgh with my Mom and brother’s ex-girlfriend, and I had a lot of fun planning our trip to Asia with Becca and Jess.

16. Would you kiss the last person you kissed again?

To be honest I can’t remember who the last person I kissed was but probably not.

17. Do you think there is life on other planets?

Yes. If you don’t believe there’s life anywhere other than Earth then that must be a sad existence. There must be something out there, even if it’s not the way we portray it to be in films and media. But there has to be something out there, I refuse to believe there’s nothing out there.

18. Do you still talk to your first crush?

No, but I do occasionally talk to his girlfriend.

19. Do you like bubble baths?

I love the idea of them but my issue is that baths take so long to run and I get impatient and end up with too little water or I end up with too much and suddenly I’ve caused a flood. Also the water either goes freezing cold or for some reason I end up overheating and I have to get out before I’ve really had time to relax. If it could be a good temperature and good height always then yes, I’d love bubble baths.

20. Do you like your neighbours?

Yes but I don’t really talk to them. We’ve had the same ones since I was a kid and my parents get on well with them but I’ve never really had much to do with them. We get on alright, they take in parcels for me and they’re decent people so I think we lucked out really.

21. What are your bad habits?

I always assume other people are talking and laughing about me behind my back – especially at work. I dig my fingernails or like sharp things into the tops of my fingers, I do really need to stop because it’s made them a bit gross. Last year I started a new thing where I get very paranoid and I analyse every message any one of my friends sends me and I read way too much into them. For example if someone just sends me ‘okay fine’ with no smiley face I assume they’re mad at me even though they’re just saying something’s fine. I really need to snap out of that.

Aha, I shouldn’t have got started on my bad habits. I leave everything to the last minute, I bother people with my problems and I’m way too unhealthy. I’ll just end this here or we’ll be here all day.

22. Where would you like to travel?

I ticked off Japan which was always top of my list so I guess the answer is anywhere and everywhere. The world is so big and I wanna see all of it.

23. Do you have trust issues?

Not sure how to answer that one ‘cos to an extent yes. But I’m also extremely open, like way more open than I should be really. I could meet a stranger and I would start spilling my entire life story with no questions asked – that’s probably why I started a blog in fact, because I just can’t keep anything to myself. Obviously if someone tells me something that they want to keep private I have no issue keeping that to myself, but in relation to my own life I just blab like no one’s business. But I do think my paranoia could be due to trust issues. I’m not sure.

24. Favourite part of your daily routine?

Going to bed. No doubt about it.

25. What part of your body are you must uncomfortable with?

Oh man, where do I start? The first thing that springs to mind is my size because I’m a size 20 but is that really a body part? I could say my stomach but if that magically shrunk I’d still have big thighs and arms so that’d be pointless.

I’m uncomfortable with my eyes which kind of sucks ‘cos I always really liked them as a kid. However in Secondary School I started wearing contact lenses and people kept asking me what was wrong with my eyes. I remember one girl also once told me I had dog eyes. So now I really dislike them.

I also hate my feet. My ex best friend cracked a joke when we went swimming and told me it looked like I had six toes on each foot. My feet are quite wide and I hate going shoe shopping because sometimes even the ‘wide fit’ shoes don’t fit me and honestly just writing this makes me wanna cry ‘cos it’s so embarrassing. My brother also regularly refers to me as ‘platypus feet’ which doesn’t help.

26. What do you do when you wake up?

This is extremely lame but at the moment I’ve been waking up fifteen minutes early recently to play BTS World. I have a good system going. The app only came out last week so I have a feeling I’ll be obsessed with that for a few weeks. On an average morning though I do tend to go straight onto my phone for a minimum of ten minutes, mostly scrolling mindlessly through social media.

BTS World

27. Do you wish your skin was lighter or darker?

Neither, the hell kind of question is this?

28. Who are you most comfortable around?

Lame but my Mom. She knows too much for there to be any awkwardness and I’m always myself around my Mom.

Golden Gate Bridge

29. Have any of your ex’s told you they regret breaking up?

No but to be fair my longest relationship lasted five days so um… There’s not really much emotional baggage I guess.

30. Do you ever want to get married?

I don’t think so, that’s quite a commitment to make to another person and I just feel like I wouldn’t want that.

31. Is your hair long enough for a ponytail?

Yep but I prefer wearing it down ‘cos I think I look like a man when it’s tied up. If I’m chilling at home and I wanna keep my hair out of the way I usually opt for an old lady bun as opposed to a ponytail. I couldn’t cut my hair short, I’d just look like my Dad and I need my long hair.

So there we go, those are my answers to ‘Hella Cute Questions’. Hope you enjoyed!

41 Random Favourite Things Tag

Madame Tussauds 2

Ah writer’s block, thou art a heartless bitch. On the bright side I love doing pointless tags so I’ve decided to do the 44 Random Favourite Things Tag. Please enjoy!

1. Colour

Pink! I used to repress my love for it in Secondary School and in general ‘cos ‘ugh pink is for girls and I’m not like other girls’ but once I grew the hell up I realised that pink is an awesome colour and one of my favourites. I don’t really show it because I don’t really wear pink clothes or own many pink things but it is my favourite colour!

2. Fruit

Strawberries, I don’t care what anyone says strawberries are the God tier fruit. Grapes are good too but nowhere near strawberries.

3. Candy

I’m not really a massive candy fan, they can make me feel a bit sick so I prefer chocolate. I’m hoping Haribo’s count because I do love them but too many can make me feel a bit sick. The hearts and the eggs are my favourites, the cola bottles are my least favourites.

4. Chocolate

It changes all the time but at the moment it’s Dairy Milk Whole Nut. Most places only sell Dairy Milk Chopped Nuts now and it’s nowhere near the same, it doesn’t taste as good as Whole Nut.

5. Cold Drink

Chocolate milk but specifically ‘Yazoo’. It took me a while but I realised I don’t like really ‘Frijj’ and the stores own brands aren’t that great. I don’t like the ones that are made out of powder because they almost never completely stir into the milk. Yazoo has that perfect balance, I won’t stand for anything less.

6. Hot Drink

Hot Chocolate

Hot Chocolate. I’m not a massive fan of hot drinks, I feel like a failure of a British person because I don’t like tea and coffee is too bitter for me. A hot chocolate is always welcomed on a cold day though. I think the best one I ever had was on holiday in Blackpool with my Mum, Nan and Little Nan it was a smarties hot chocolate. They all felt sick watching me but it was so tasty!

7. Ice Cream

Aldi do what I call ‘ice cream sandwiches’ and whenever I told Hirst I was eating one she was like “why the hell would you have ice cream with bread?” Hirst, honey, its ice cream with two cookies that form the ‘sandwich’. They’re lush but unfortunately they’re only seasonal so I can only enjoy them in the summer. I’m also a massive fan of Ben and Jerry’s ‘Phish Food’ ice cream but to be fair, who isn’t?

8. Chips

I assume this is an American tag and they mean ‘crisps’. I actually don’t like crisps, especially anything cheese flavoured or salt and vinegar flavoured, just the smell of them horrifies me. I try to keep quiet when people eat them near me but it really grosses me out. I do occasionally eat ready salted crisps or some nachos or something but like they do creep me out. I’m not sure what it is!

9. Soup

I’ll eat vegetable soup as like a starter or something but I’m not a fan of soup as it doesn’t fill me up in the slightest. I don’t understand people at work who eat no snacks all morning, have soup for lunch and then are fine until tea time. I’d be dying of hunger! I like the idea of soup but yeah, it wouldn’t fill me up.

10. Car

I don’t know pretty much any car types, I’m glad Go Carz tell you your driver’s registration ‘cos if they just sent the car type I’d never bloody find it. So I don’t really have a favourite for this one.

11. Television Show

Hello My Twenties

The only show in the past couple of years that’s managed to absorb me is ‘Hello My Twenties’. I’ve watched and enjoyed other shows but sitting down to watch them feels like a chore until I’m actually mid-episode and into them, and even then I occasionally check how much longer of the show I’ve got left. I could’ve happily sat and watched ‘Hello My Twenties’ all day though, it really sucked me in. I was happy when they released season two but I finished it so quick, and I don’t think they’re gonna return with a season three even though I need to know what happens! Gah!

12. Movie

Room - Movie hub web news entertainment trailers reviews - Movieholic Hub

At the moment it’s ‘Room’. It’s an amazing film and I’m so glad Brie Larson won an Oscar for it. I love the book too but it was sadder and a bit more realistic – I know that’s probably better but I don’t know, I just loved the way the movie was told. I could watch it again and again without getting bored, and it would probably make me cry every time.

13. Sport

Although I’ve started going to the gym I don’t really take part in any sports. I quite like Netball at school and in Year 7 I nearly joined the Netball team because my PE teacher told me I was good and that I should but she didn’t show up to the training session so I wasted a whole lunch break waiting for her and I didn’t bother again. It’s a shame as I think I would’ve enjoyed it.

14. Perfume

I don’t have a favourite because I don’t tend to wear it. Sure, I will if someone buys me a bottle but I’d never go out of my way to buy one for myself. I mean, why are they so expensive?

15. Meat

I mostly eat chicken because it’s easiest to cook and comes in different forms – chicken nuggets, chicken stir-fry, roast chicken, chicken burger etc. But I think my actual favourite is beef. I just don’t make it as often ‘cos I’m not a confident cook and I’m used to cooking chicken, not beef. Probably sounds stupid but there you go.

16. Vegetable

Broccoli. I’m quite bad and don’t like that many vegetables, the only ones I can think of off the top of my head are broccoli and sweet corn but I LOVE both of them. I like making my own broccoli ‘cos my Mom doesn’t cook it for long enough and it’s too hard, whereas I cook it for ages so it’s nice and soft. I could eat broccoli with pretty much anything.

17. Genre of Music

K-Pop but I’ll listen to most things to be honest. My taste is quite broad.

18. City to Visit

Japan Takeshita

Tokyo in Japan, I don’t care that I’ve only been once in my entire life, it’s my absolute favourite place ever.

19. Celebrity Crush

I have so many and narrowing it down to one would be near impossible so I’ll go with the obvious and say J-Hope from BTS.

20. Book

It’s either ‘Only Ever Yours’ by Louise O’Neill or ‘The Loneliest Girl in the Universe’ by Lauren James. Both are amazing for different reasons. I’ve reread ‘Only Ever Yours’ tons of times but only read ‘The Loneliest Girl in the Universe’ earlier this year but I did love it.

21. Sports Team

I used to pick my favourite football team based on who I had a crush on at the time. If they supported Liverpool then you can bet your ass I supported Liverpool too. I’ve been to one football game in my entire life as I treated my Dad to tickets and it was a Wolves match as he supports them. During the match I supported them too but I’m not an active fan or anything.

22. Pet

Unfortunately I don’t have any pets anymore – I did love Bruno, Fred, Toffee and Tina whilst they were alive but I don’t have any anymore. I’m not in a rush to get any as I travel often and it’d be an inconvenience trying to find someone to look after them whilst I’m gone. I just love my friends pets instead.

23. Flower

Roses I think. Nice and traditional.

24. Dessert

My latest dessert obsession are the strawberry tarts from ASDA. I love them, they’re so tasty, I can’t get enough of them.

25. Smell

Freshly mown grass, warm cookies, coffee (even though I can’t stand the taste), just to name a few.

26. Game

Mario Party 8

I LOVE Mario Party 8! I watched Achievement Hunter play it all the time and I was always so jealous ‘cos I had no one to play it with. On my birthday I bought the game and forced my friends Becca, Jess and Hirst to play it with me. Jess liked it but Becca and Hirst weren’t fans so now I don’t really have anyone to play it with and it’s no fun playing with the AI’s, it’s too easy to win.

27. Piece of jewellery

Me and my friends each have a bracelet that Hirst gave us all for Christmas one year that has each of our initials on it. It’s the only piece of jewellery I wear all the time and I love it to pieces. We all wear ours all the time and it’s really cute!

28. Jeans

I’ve gone off jeans but when I did wear them I just bought a cheap pair from Primark or ASDA. Due to my size the jeans always wore away and got holes in them anyway so I didn’t see the point in splashing out money for an expensive pair.

29. Electronics

I’m not really sure what this means but I love my iPod. Unfortunately my iPod Nano recently broke (how it survived this long though is beyond me, I ripped the buttons off the side and it was not in good shape) and for some reason a new Nano was more expensive than an iPod Touch so I bought one of them instead. I don’t trust Apple products as they’re definitely not built to last but since I’ve been using iTunes for so long I don’t want to buy a non-brand MP3 player and have none of my songs transfer onto it.

30. Hair Product

I don’t really use hair products other than hair dye and I go for Live XXL just because they do bright colours whereas most of the other brands don’t. I used to dye my hair different colours when I was a teenager but now I’m older I can’t be bothered with the bleaching to get a decent colour so I’ve stuck with purple hair. I don’t go to the hairdressers anymore as last time she was like “there’s still red in your hair so we’re probably best dying it that colour again” and although I didn’t want red hair at all I was too awkward to say anything. I think the red still being in my hair was bull anyway, it would’ve grown out ages ago.

31. Sandwich

Bacon and egg! When I lived at Jess’ for a couple of months we used to have a bacon and egg sandwich after walking Benji which was always lush.

32. Condiment

I don’t like any condiments. I still remember sharing a tray of chips with Jess and she insisted she ‘had to’ squeeze ketchup all over her half, and when I pulled ones out from the bottom they had sauce on and I had to leave them for her. I can just about tolerate mayonnaise at an absolute push but I don’t actually enjoy any condiments.

33. Thing to collect

Snow globes! I’ve started collecting them from the countries I visit and I have a pretty decent collection now. The only one I’m currently missing is Amsterdam but I’m hoping I’ll have time to look for one on my stopover on the way to Hong Kong later this year.

34. Time of Day

On a weekday 5PM because that’s when work finishes and although I love my job it’s still good to know that now my time is my own. If we’re not talking about a specific time I like evenings both in and out of work.

35. Day of the week

Either Friday or Saturday. Sunday’s aren’t fun because of bloody trading standards and the buses are less frequent (as someone that doesn’t drive it’s very annoying). Friday’s good ‘cos although I have work I know afterwards I’ll have a full two days off (unless I’m doing care work). Saturday’s are good because that’s the day to go out and do something.

36. Actor

I love so many actors that it’s hard to narrow it down to one. At the moment I’m going to say Tom Holland. Fun fact, last time me and Becca got drunk together we thought it’d be a great idea to record a video of us talking about how much we love Tom Holland and then tweet it to him. I sincerely hope he never saw it.

37. Actress

Probably Brie Larson, I think she’s amazing as both an actress and a person. I’m so glad she’s joined the MCU, she’s just perfect.

38. Season

Autumn! It’s starting to cool down but it’s not too cold yet. Also my birthdays in Autumn which is a definite bonus.

39. Designer

Ah, I don’t actually have one. Sorry!

40. Comfort Food

I’m not sure what counts as comfort food but whenever I’m abroad for too long I get cravings for British food. When I was in America it was a full English breakfast I kept fancying whereas when I was in Asia all I wanted was a roast dinner. If I’ve had a crap day at work I love going to Wetherspoons after work, you can’t beat a good Wetherspoons meal. If I was at home I think I’d go looking for hash browns.

41. Piece of Clothing

I bought myself a big nightie from ASDA which is nice and baggy, and really cosy. It’s everything I’d ask for in pyjamas.

There you have it, 41 random favourites of mine! Feel free to leave a comment with yours or a link to yours. Or just whatever you wanna comment.

The Marvel Tag

To celebrate that the new Avengers film is out soon I figured I’d do a Marvel tag! I don’t really talk much about my love for Marvel, mainly because I’ve never really thought of a post idea that could fit in with that but also partly because I didn’t need any nerd-bros slipping into my DM’s about how I’m not a true fan because I don’t read the comic books. Anyway, let’s get into the tag!

1. Favourite Movie?

I am always in the mood to watch Avengers Assemble to be honest with you, it’s the movie that got me into Marvel and super hero films in general. It was just such a good movie and it’s weird now thinking that we all got hyped to see what, six super heroes together, when now we’re counting down the days until Infinity War when there are gonna be absolutely tons of super heroes all fighting together. It’s mad.

Avengers Assemble

2. Favourite Character?

It changes all the time and I know my friend Becca is going to kill me but probably Bucky Barnes. Back when I’d only seen ‘Avengers Assemble’ and all the ‘Iron Man’ films I used to slag off Captain America a lot and stick up for Iron Man but after going to the Captain America triple bill when Captain America: Civil War came out I swapped and preferred Captain America to Iron Man (to which Becca always calls me a traitor). After watching the Captain America films I quickly started loving Bucky who was also Becca’s favourite character – I’m serious, in college the girl genuinely called me ‘Bucky’ instead of ‘Buddy’ more than once. But yeah, my favourite’s Bucky regardless of whether Becca thinks I’m a traitor or not!

3. MCU OTP’s

I don’t really have any – I hate the idea of Nat and the Hulk, like did they seriously compare Nat not being able to have kids to the fact that Bruce literally turns into a giant green monster? Really? Even if you bring in Black Widow’s past the two of them aren’t really the same at all and I just thought it was an irritating comparison. I also hate Wanda and Vision like that’s just grim, what the hell?

4. Who deserves their own movie?

Normally I’d say Black Widow ‘cos like feminism and I just generally once upon a time thought it would’ve been good but now I’m not really a fan of Scarlett Johansson and I just can’t get quite as hyped about it as I could before. I think Scarlet Witch having her own movie would be good but that won’t happen. I’m so glad Black Panther got his own movie and that it was amazing!

Scarlet Witch

5. Favourite MCU film score?

Honestly I’ve never thought about it before. Probably ‘Avengers Assemble’ though, the score is wicked.

6. What future film are you most excited for?

Lame but I’m gonna have to say Infinity War. I know it’s a boring answer but it’s so close and I’m just so excited to finally see it. Other than that I’m also looking forward to Deadpool 2.

7. Which MCU character is most like you?

Me and my friends always play games where we assign each other characters but these can often be based on weird things – for example Hirst was always Thor ‘cos of her blonde hair. So I’m not really sure. Maybe Wanda because she just wants to do the right thing and feels really guilty when she messes up – I do generally try to do the right thing and I have a massive guilty conscience so yeah, I’ll go with Wanda.

8. Would you want to be Xandarian, a Frost Giant, Asgardian or stay Terran?

I really loved Thor Ragnarok so you know what I’d 100% wanna be an Asgardian. Also Asgard looks a lot nicer than Earth so like, why not?

9. The Avengers or Guardians of the Galaxy?

I liked Guardians of the Galaxy a lot more than I thought I would but I’m gonna have to go for the Avengers of course.

10. Which MCU character would you want to be friends with?

Thor so I could visit Asgard and he would just generally be a great person to be friends with.

11. Favourite MCU actor?

Tom Hiddleston – I had a crush on him as a teenager but kind of got over it but now after watching Ragnarok I’m back on my crush again. Whoops!

12. Baby Groot or Big Groot?

Baby Groot obviously! Who wouldn’t pick Baby Groot?

I hope you’re all as hyped for Avengers Infinity War as much as I am and that you enjoyed the tag!

Get To Know Me Tag: 50 Questions

I feel like you guys know a lot about the events I’ve been to, the books I like, the films I like, the music I like but you don’t particularly know much about me. So I decided to do this tag so you can get to know me a bit better!

1. Full name

Holly Nicole Bareham. I prefer spelling my name Hollie though. Or being called Hozzie if possible.

2. Zodiac sign

Libra, my birthday is September 30th!

3. Fears

It used to be elevators as the top one and normally I’d say flying ‘cos that does scare me but not as much anymore. Bugs scare me a lot, especially spiders because they’re gross. I’m also kind of scared of the dark.

4. 3 things I love

K-Pop, horror films and travelling.

5. My best friend

I have three! Becca, Hirst and Jess J. And I love them all.

6. Last song I listened to

I’m actually currently listening to Secret by Cosmic Girls! Before that I listened to Mirror by Fiestar.

7. Turn ons

I don’t really know, people that pay attention to me. I’m quite easy to please lmao!

8. 3 Turn offs

When someone’s so busy worrying about how they look instead of having fun, someone who makes me feel like shit and someone who’s mean to service workers like waiters or shop assistants. Avoid at all costs!

9. What colour underwear I’m wearing right now

Grey with white flowers.

10. How many tattoos/piercings do I have?

I technically have my lobes pierced but I haven’t attempted putting earrings in them for a while. I got my cartilage re-done on Monday so my friend could pass her ear piercing training at Claires. And today I finally got my first tattoo, something I’ve been meaning to do for ages!

My Tattoo

11. The reason I started blogging

At the time there was a girl called May Laurel or Laurel May, I can’t remember which way around but she had a book blog and I thought it was the best thing ever. So my blog started off as books and horror films but I wasn’t always motivated to write my reviews whereas writing whatever I fancy keeps me much more motivated and now I have regular posting days.

12. How I feel right now

Pretty chill, tired though I need to go to bed soon!

13. Something I really, really want

Okay the girl who answered these before me wrote ‘world peace’ and now I feel bad for immediately thinking ‘BTS Europe tour’.

14. My current relationship status

Single and 100% happy to keep it that way.

15. Meaning behind my URL

My name’s Hozzie and I write. Also I couldn’t think of anything and another girl had a similar blog name. I’m not very original, okay?

16. My favourite movie

Normally I’d automatically say ‘Orphan’ because I love that film so much but honestly my favourite movie depends on my mood. If I’m tired or in a bad mood I prefer watching children’s films rather than ones where I need to particularly think. I really like the Rugrats movies. I don’t care how lame that is. Right now if I had to name a favourite film I’d say ‘My Neighbour Totoro’.

17. My favourite song

At the moment it’s probably KKPP by MiSO but it changes all the time.

18. My favourite band

At the moment 24K if they count? If they don’t then I guess either The Pretty Reckless or Tonight Alive.

19. 3 Things that upset me

My step-dad, lack of honesty and war.

20. 3 Things that make me happy

Concerts, being with my friends and going to the theatre.

21. What I find attractive in other people

Just being nice. Like honestly, I briefly fall in love with anyone who is slightly nice to me. I’ve had this conversation with Becca tons ‘cos I think it’s so funny.

22. Someone I miss

I miss the friendship I had with Olivia and Jenna, like I remember we had a games night one night and it was really nice. Things wouldn’t be like that now. I’m very lucky with the best friends I do have though.

23. Someone I love

My Mom is always top of the list. I love that woman to pieces.

24. My relationship with my parents

My Mom raised me and my brothers mostly by herself growing up ‘cos she divorced my Dad when I was two and I have a lot of respect for her for that. I love her to pieces. Then she met my step-dad who is the most soul-sucking, nasty, HORRIBLE person I have ever met in my life. It’s all ‘just ignore him when he says nasty things’ but why should I? I can’t stand living with him and I can’t wait to move out.

Luckily I get on well with my step-mom, she’s lovely. I don’t know what to say about my Dad. We get on well now but I feel like growing up we didn’t understand each other. We fell out a lot and he said and did a lot that I disagree with but I think we’re closer now than we used to be and I do love him.

25. My favourite holiday

Has to be Christmas. Halloween’s a close second though.

26. My closest blogging friend

Becca I guess? I don’t really have any friends in the blogging community.

27. Someone famous I’d date

Is this even a question? Pretty much any member of all the K-Pop groups I stan – but if I had to pick three it’d be Cory from 24K, J-Hope from BTS and Moonbin from ASTRO.

28. A confession

I actually really love Five Night’s at Freddy’s songs! I know that sounds lame but some of them are so catchy and so good. DA Games makes the best ones but JT Music is good too. My favourite’s Break My Minds by DA Games. Listen, there are some good songs regardless of the fact they’re about Five Night’s at Freddy’s!

29. 3 Things that annoy me easily

Slow walkers, people being unnecessarily mean to others and people that nit-pick.

30. My favourite animal

Sea lions, ever since me and my Mom visited Mundo-Marr in Spain. I love them!

31. My pets

None anymore unfortunately. When I was a kid we had a dog called Bruno and a fish called Fred. Unfortunately Bruno passed away and my Mom felt bad about keeping Fred in a tank so we gave him to our friend that had a pond. Then I had two guinea pigs called Toffee and Tina who eventually passed away. I don’t really want any more pets because I like to travel and often end up booking last minute trips so having pets wouldn’t really help. I’ll just love my friend’s dogs. Shout-out to Benji, Kia, Tess and George!

32. One thing I’ve lied about

When I was being interviewed for my current job they were like “You have experience on Microsoft Excel, right?” and I was like “Of course, tons of experience!” I did not. I said that ‘cos I thought I wouldn’t need to use Excel much. I was wrong, my life is nothing but Excel sheets.

33. Something that’s currently worrying me

Money. As an apprentice I don’t earn much and I recently used my tax return to book flights to Japan and South Korea. Now I’m worried I won’t be able to afford as much as I thought. I’m worrying about all the trips I have coming up this year and whether I’ll be able to afford everything I want to. Luckily my wages go up in March so hopefully I won’t need to worry so much anymore. But it’s definitely stressing me out at the moment.

34. An embarrassing moment

Oh Gosh, which one do I pick? We’ll go with the first one that pops into my head. A few weeks ago I was in the kitchen with my headphones on when I saw a shadow bobbing around by the front door so I assumed someone had knocked and I hadn’t heard. I opened the door and discovered the shadow was that of the man standing at the bus stop at the end of my drive. We looked at each other for a good ten seconds before I closed the door without saying anything.

35. Where I Work

I’d rather not say but I work for the council as an apprentice in the schools department. No, I don’t work for a school I just help manage business to do with schools. For example, admissions, attendance support, access and inclusion, teams like that.

36. Something that’s constantly on my mind

Plans for the week. What money needs paying out, where I need to be when, what I need to organise for next week etc. etc.

37. 3 Habits I have

I don’t know how to describe the first one but I like to dig like the tops of my fingers into things like the corner of my phone or dig my nails into them. I need to stop ‘cos it makes them look really gross. I’m not sure if this counts as a habit but I always worry people are talking about me at work when like they’re just talking in general. Also I can’t get out of bed in the morning unless I’ve spent a minimum of ten minutes on my phone.

38. My future goals

Travel and see as much of the world as possible. I’m not that fussed about what I do for a career as long as I like it. I don’t wanna wake up every morning and feel nothing but dread. I used to dread coming to work but now I’ve settled in I don’t mind – obviously I don’t wake up jumping for joy but there’s no dread anymore. As long as I have enough money to keep travelling I don’t mind.

39. Something I fantasise about

This is lame but getting to meet my favourite idols. Mostly BTS to be honest, that’d be amazing. Other than that just travelling really.

40. My favourite store

Waterstones I guess, I just really love books. I also love going to Camden Market but I’m not sure that counts.

41. My favourite food

Steak pie and chips bought from our local chip shop. Has to be pukka. Nothing can top that! A close second is Chinese takeout: Chicken chow mein, chicken balls and spring rolls. My mouths watering just thinking about it to be honest.

42. What I did yesterday

Went to work during the day and then in the evening me and my Mom went to see ‘Hedda Gabbler’. And it was strange, not gonna lie.

43. Something I’m talented at

There was a time when I would’ve said nothing but now I can happily say writing. I’ve always been talented at writing. My first drafts aren’t always great but I noticed at school if we ever had to do writing for a project I’d be on my third paragraph whilst most people were still trying to figure out their first sentence. I noticed again when me and my friend wrote each other a story – I wrote 3000 words in the space she wrote 700. Anything writing based just comes naturally to me.

44. My idea of the perfect date

There are a few, I wouldn’t even want anything too expensive. Something like bowling would be pretty fun. Or even just chilling at home and watching a movie. Or if like we set up an aesthetic looking picnic somewhere. I’m not really a fan of anything expensive or fancy so something simple and affordable is more up my street.

45. My celebrity crush

Didn’t we already cover this? 24K’s Cory (Well, all of 24K I guess), BTS’ J-Hope and ASTRO’s Moonbin. If you want a couple more we can include GOT7’s Jackson and Super Junior’s Heechul.

46. My favourite blog

I dip in and out of other people’s blogs but I don’t really have a favourite because it depends on how I feel that day and what I want to read about. One day I’ll love going through K-Pop blogs, some days through book blogs and some days through travel blogs. I have a lot of respect for people who can pick like their main interest because my blog is all over the place with what my interests are.

47. Number of kids I want

Sometimes I don’t mind the idea of kids. But that’s my ideal version of what my child be. When you have a child you have to accept your kid no matter what. What if they support Trump? What if they don’t respect women? What if they join a satanic cult and kill me in the middle of the night? You can’t predict what kind of child you’re going to have. And also the thought of a child is all well and good until something comes along that you want to do but you have to put your child first. And truthfully, I’m too selfish to have a child. But at least I can admit that before I have any.

48. Do I smoke/drink?

49. One word that describes me

Oh wow, um… Caring? I hope.

50. My favourite quote

I’m not sure I have one but I like the song lyric ‘nobody else is going to put it right for me, nobody but me is going to change my story’. I love that.

There we go! I hope you learnt a little more about me and found that relatively interesting.
