Top Ten Countries I’d Love to Visit

Lithuania 11.jpg

I absolutely love travelling. Flying absolutely terrifies me but there is no greater feeling in the world than landing in a new country that you’ve never been to before. Unfortunately due to work, lack of money and a lot of other things I haven’t travelled an absolute ton – slowly me and my friends are starting to explore more countries and we’re learning the cheapest ways to travel.

Because of my love of travelling I wanted to write more travel themed blog posts. I’ve written a couple in the past including accommodation advice for solo travellers and advice for nervous flyers. But as I love lists I thought I’d write one of my top ten places I’d love to visit one day!

10. New Delhi, India

To be honest India has never intrigued me that much until I saw a girl I used to work with had travelled there. She spent a few months in New Zealand and then went to India. I don’t know how she can afford this much travelling since we were both earning minimum wage at the time but I’m jealous and I wish I had her life.

I really don’t know much about the country at all but her travel photos have got me interested and it’s a place I’d love to visit one day. It’s not somewhere I’d want to travel on my own and it wouldn’t be top of my list but if I ever got the opportunity I’d definitely take it.

9. Vienna, Austria

Okay so I write this list last year back in like November and at the time I had some holiday leftover at work so I tried to convince my Mom that we should come here but she was all “oh it’s too cold, we should go in the summer” so in the end I booked Poland for myself AND THEN SHE MOANED I HADN’T INVITED HER? This has been on my list since last November and I’ve just found out today that my friend Becca has booked a holiday there for March! She’ll have to tell me how it is.

I’ve heard a lot of good things about Vienna off a lady from work who’s been a few times and says it’s lovely so I’d love to see it for myself one day.

8. Brussels, Belgium

This is one my Mom got me interested in. She specifically wants to go to Bruges but to be honest I’d be happy going to any part of Belgium. I’d been looking at coach prices to get to Brussels and it was cheap but after the nightmare journey home from Paris two years ago I’m not sure how keen I am to catch another long-haul coach.

Me and my friends are more of ‘accidental’ travellers because a lot of our holidays are based on which K-Pop artists are performing in which country – a lot of our trips are planned around this. So if a concert is ever announced in Belgium I’ll be sure to book a trip!

7. Berlin, Germany

I’ve wanted to go here for a while now and two of my best friends Becca and Jess went last August. I couldn’t afford it at the time so I didn’t get to go. I’d be salty but if I’d gone then I wouldn’t have got called on stage at the 24K Fan Meet so like everything happens for a reason, right?

Anyway I loved watching their vlog and seeing all their photos and now it just makes me want to go even more! It looks really nice and I’d love to go to any part of Germany one day to be honest, but especially Berlin. I also found the lady I sit by at work lived in Germany for two years and she said it was a lovely country. So it’s definitely on my travel list!

6. Florida, USA

Okay realistically I’m just desperate to go to Disneyworld. I’ve only ever been to Disneyland Paris and I want to be able to compare it. But there’s also Universal Studios in Florida and probably lots of other cool things so I’d love to be able to go one day. I’m a little worried about the thunder storms Florida gets and also like crocodiles but other than that, I’m sure it’d be a great trip!

America isn’t cheap to get to and I don’t think it’s a trip I’ll be planning anytime soon since I just got back from New York but again, it’s another one that given the opportunity I would be gone in a heartbeat.

5. Stockholm, Sweden

My friend Becca went last year and I’m so jealous! Her photos looked so nice and she just didn’t stop the entire time she was there. I have an online friend from Sweden and I’ve heard so many nice things about the country that I’d just love to go and see it for myself! I can’t speak a word of Swedish but apparently most of them speak some English. I wish they’d forced another language into us at school, I hate being that lazy British person that only speaks one language!

I think quite a few K-Pop artists do go to Sweden so I’d be down for a last minute trip to see someone – assuming I can afford it this time!

4. Vancouver, Canada

I’ve been interested in going to Canada for absolutely ages but I couldn’t tell you why. My old manager is from Canada and she went there over the summer holidays and she brought back the nicest maple syrup biscuits I’ve ever had in my entire life. I’d go to Canada just to buy a box of them to be honest, they were so tasty! And now I can never eat them again unless I go back because she doesn’t even work with us anymore so she can’t bring anymore back.

Either way I’ve liked the idea of going to Canada since I was in secondary school, me and Jess have talked about going there several times so I might have to look into it when I get my next tax return!

3. Beijing, China

My sister went to China on a business trip and so did my manager’s daughter and they both said it was amazing. China’s really interesting and I’d love to be able to say that I’ve been one day. I don’t really know much about China’s history but like I’m a massive fan of the film Mulan. I’m just kidding, I’d love to go there because it’d be so different to England and it’d be really interesting.

The only thing I wouldn’t like is that Facebook is banned over there, I’d have to wait until I got home to upload all the amazing photos I’d take.

It’s on my bucket list to walk on the Great Wall of China so I need to go someday! I’m a bit salty because I just found out my Mum might be booking a trip there with her friend Sue and she’s not even sure she wants to go. I think I’ve persuaded her she should because it’s a once in a lifetime trip and it’d be absolutely amazing! It’s definitely on my travel list.

2. Seoul, South Korea

South Korea.jpg

Admittedly yes my interest in South Korea began when I became a K-Pop fan. But watching videos of idols hanging out in South Korea got me interested in the country. This is one of those places I’ve longed to visit for a few years now but never thought I would. Good news though, me, Jess J and Becca have booked to go! We’ve booked our flights and hotel so in October we’ll be off to Seoul for a few nights. I can’t wait!

There’s so much I want to see and do that I’m a little worried about my legs falling off to be honest like they hurt from walking around Lithuania but this is going to be on a whole new level. I feel like I need to start training to prepare myself.

1. Tokyo, Japan

I’ve been wanting to go to Tokyo for absolutely years now. It’s a place I’ve always talked about and longed to go to, but never seriously believed I’d be able to. However, we’re going in September! Our trip will take us to Tokyo, then Kyoto, then Osaka then we’ll fly to Seoul in South Korea before we head home! The trip is like eight months away but I’m so excited for it.

The only thing booked so far is the flights and the hotels but there are so many extras we need to book in advance. Disneyland Tokyo, Universal Studios, Studio Ghibli Museum… Then there’s all the places where we’ll pay on the door!

I’m hoping we can go to at least one K-Pop concert either in Japan or South Korea but apparently it’s difficult to buy concert tickets in these countries? If anyone from England has experience buying concert tickets in either of them then please leave me a comment with your experience, we really need to know in advance because although nothing’s been announced yet I’m already stressed!

So there we go, there’s my list of top ten places I’d love to visit one day! I wrote it last November and I’ve finally gotten round to posting it! I plan to visit every single place on this list one day so maybe in a couple of years I’ll update it with everywhere I’ve been.

K-Pop Bias vs. Bias Wrecker

BTS 4.jpg

I liked my post about original bias against current bias so I thought I’d do a post about my bias’ and my bias wreckers! Because let’s face it, it can be hard having just one bias when there are so many amazing members. So here is a list of my bias’ vs my bias wreckers.

Oh My Girl

Bias: Hyojung

Hyojung gif.gif

Bias Wrecker: Yooa

Yooa gif.gif

I don’t know much about Oh My Girl personally but they have some of the best songs ever in my opinion. Hyojung is my bias because I used to only like the song ‘Liar Liar’ and her parts were my favourite. I think now Hyojung is still my bias but Yooa is really sweet and I can’t help liking her a lot too!

Bias: Umji

Umji gif.gif

Bias Wrecker: Yuju

Yuju gif.gif

When I first became a fan of G-Friend Yuju was my bias because of how professionally she handled falling over during their ‘Me Gustas Tu’ stage. But the more I got into them the more I started to love Umji until she eventually became my bias. However I still love Yuju because I think she’s such a talented singer and I love listening to her parts in any G-Friend song.

Bias: Moonbin

Moonbin gif.gif

Bias Wrecker: Sanha

Sanha gif.gif

I think Sanha is so sweet but the fact remains that he is seventeen and I am twenty-one. In fact when I became a fan I think he was only sixteen. It’s not the biggest age difference in the world but he’s underage and I’d feel weird about having him as my bias. Luckily I like Moonbin that little bit more but I’ll always think Sanha’s sweet.

Girls’ Generation

Bias: Sunny

Sunny gif.gif

Bias Wrecker: Hyoyeon

Hyoyeon gif.gif

Sunny has been my bias ever since I got into Girls’ Generation and there’s nothing I don’t love about her. But if I was going to pick another bias it would definitely by Hyoyeon. Hyoyeon’s another member where I love pretty much everything about her. She’s so funny and so talented. I loved her solo sings and I’m sick of people acting like she can’t sing. Same for Sunny though to be honest, she has an amazing voice and everyone’s like ‘nah she can’t sing’. Just be quiet.

Bias: J-Hope

J-Hope gif.gif

Bias Wrecker: Jin

Jin gif.gif

I love BTS so much and I’ve always been more of a fan of the hyung line rather than the maknae line so my bias wrecker tends to switch between Suga, Jin and Namjoon. J-Hope will probably always be my bias in BTS because I love him but Jin is definitely in second. I hate the people who act like he’s a useless member. He’s an amazing singer and he’s so sweet to his fans.

Bias: Jeonghan

Jeonghan gif.gif

Bias Wrecker: Woozi

Woozi gif.gif

In a previous post I wrote that my current bias was Vernon… Well, it’s changed again whoops! I really like Jeonghan now. I don’t know why. I don’t really know anything about the members personalities I just really like Jeonghan. But my original bias Woozi is still a complete bias wrecker because I think he’s really sweet.

Bias: Moonbyul

Moonbyul gif.gif

Bias Wrecker: Hwasa

Hwasa gif.gif

If I could look like any K-Pop idol ever I’d definitely pick Hwasa. The girl is absolutely stunning and so insanely talented that it makes me jealous. Moonbyul is still my bias because I think she’s funny and I love her to pieces but Hwasa is honestly such a bias wrecker. She’s amazing.

Bias: Cory

Cory gif.gif

Bias Wrecker: Kisu

Kisu gif.gif

But also: Hongseob

Hongseob gif.gif

Look, after the fan meet in London back in August [x] I love pretty much every member of 24K. But I’m only human and I have my favourites. Cory’s always been my bias and I doubt he’ll ever stop being my bias at this point but I love Kisu and Hongseob too. In person Kisu is honestly just so stunning and he’s really sweet but so is Hongseob! To be honest all the members are bias wreckers AND IF YOU HAVEN’T LISTENED TO THEM ALREADY THEN DO IT NOW!

So there is my list of bias’ vs bias wreckers, feel free to leave yours in the comments!

Get To Know Me Tag: 50 Questions

I feel like you guys know a lot about the events I’ve been to, the books I like, the films I like, the music I like but you don’t particularly know much about me. So I decided to do this tag so you can get to know me a bit better!

1. Full name

Holly Nicole Bareham. I prefer spelling my name Hollie though. Or being called Hozzie if possible.

2. Zodiac sign

Libra, my birthday is September 30th!

3. Fears

It used to be elevators as the top one and normally I’d say flying ‘cos that does scare me but not as much anymore. Bugs scare me a lot, especially spiders because they’re gross. I’m also kind of scared of the dark.

4. 3 things I love

K-Pop, horror films and travelling.

5. My best friend

I have three! Becca, Hirst and Jess J. And I love them all.

6. Last song I listened to

I’m actually currently listening to Secret by Cosmic Girls! Before that I listened to Mirror by Fiestar.

7. Turn ons

I don’t really know, people that pay attention to me. I’m quite easy to please lmao!

8. 3 Turn offs

When someone’s so busy worrying about how they look instead of having fun, someone who makes me feel like shit and someone who’s mean to service workers like waiters or shop assistants. Avoid at all costs!

9. What colour underwear I’m wearing right now

Grey with white flowers.

10. How many tattoos/piercings do I have?

I technically have my lobes pierced but I haven’t attempted putting earrings in them for a while. I got my cartilage re-done on Monday so my friend could pass her ear piercing training at Claires. And today I finally got my first tattoo, something I’ve been meaning to do for ages!

My Tattoo

11. The reason I started blogging

At the time there was a girl called May Laurel or Laurel May, I can’t remember which way around but she had a book blog and I thought it was the best thing ever. So my blog started off as books and horror films but I wasn’t always motivated to write my reviews whereas writing whatever I fancy keeps me much more motivated and now I have regular posting days.

12. How I feel right now

Pretty chill, tired though I need to go to bed soon!

13. Something I really, really want

Okay the girl who answered these before me wrote ‘world peace’ and now I feel bad for immediately thinking ‘BTS Europe tour’.

14. My current relationship status

Single and 100% happy to keep it that way.

15. Meaning behind my URL

My name’s Hozzie and I write. Also I couldn’t think of anything and another girl had a similar blog name. I’m not very original, okay?

16. My favourite movie

Normally I’d automatically say ‘Orphan’ because I love that film so much but honestly my favourite movie depends on my mood. If I’m tired or in a bad mood I prefer watching children’s films rather than ones where I need to particularly think. I really like the Rugrats movies. I don’t care how lame that is. Right now if I had to name a favourite film I’d say ‘My Neighbour Totoro’.

17. My favourite song

At the moment it’s probably KKPP by MiSO but it changes all the time.

18. My favourite band

At the moment 24K if they count? If they don’t then I guess either The Pretty Reckless or Tonight Alive.

19. 3 Things that upset me

My step-dad, lack of honesty and war.

20. 3 Things that make me happy

Concerts, being with my friends and going to the theatre.

21. What I find attractive in other people

Just being nice. Like honestly, I briefly fall in love with anyone who is slightly nice to me. I’ve had this conversation with Becca tons ‘cos I think it’s so funny.

22. Someone I miss

I miss the friendship I had with Olivia and Jenna, like I remember we had a games night one night and it was really nice. Things wouldn’t be like that now. I’m very lucky with the best friends I do have though.

23. Someone I love

My Mom is always top of the list. I love that woman to pieces.

24. My relationship with my parents

My Mom raised me and my brothers mostly by herself growing up ‘cos she divorced my Dad when I was two and I have a lot of respect for her for that. I love her to pieces. Then she met my step-dad who is the most soul-sucking, nasty, HORRIBLE person I have ever met in my life. It’s all ‘just ignore him when he says nasty things’ but why should I? I can’t stand living with him and I can’t wait to move out.

Luckily I get on well with my step-mom, she’s lovely. I don’t know what to say about my Dad. We get on well now but I feel like growing up we didn’t understand each other. We fell out a lot and he said and did a lot that I disagree with but I think we’re closer now than we used to be and I do love him.

25. My favourite holiday

Has to be Christmas. Halloween’s a close second though.

26. My closest blogging friend

Becca I guess? I don’t really have any friends in the blogging community.

27. Someone famous I’d date

Is this even a question? Pretty much any member of all the K-Pop groups I stan – but if I had to pick three it’d be Cory from 24K, J-Hope from BTS and Moonbin from ASTRO.

28. A confession

I actually really love Five Night’s at Freddy’s songs! I know that sounds lame but some of them are so catchy and so good. DA Games makes the best ones but JT Music is good too. My favourite’s Break My Minds by DA Games. Listen, there are some good songs regardless of the fact they’re about Five Night’s at Freddy’s!

29. 3 Things that annoy me easily

Slow walkers, people being unnecessarily mean to others and people that nit-pick.

30. My favourite animal

Sea lions, ever since me and my Mom visited Mundo-Marr in Spain. I love them!

31. My pets

None anymore unfortunately. When I was a kid we had a dog called Bruno and a fish called Fred. Unfortunately Bruno passed away and my Mom felt bad about keeping Fred in a tank so we gave him to our friend that had a pond. Then I had two guinea pigs called Toffee and Tina who eventually passed away. I don’t really want any more pets because I like to travel and often end up booking last minute trips so having pets wouldn’t really help. I’ll just love my friend’s dogs. Shout-out to Benji, Kia, Tess and George!

32. One thing I’ve lied about

When I was being interviewed for my current job they were like “You have experience on Microsoft Excel, right?” and I was like “Of course, tons of experience!” I did not. I said that ‘cos I thought I wouldn’t need to use Excel much. I was wrong, my life is nothing but Excel sheets.

33. Something that’s currently worrying me

Money. As an apprentice I don’t earn much and I recently used my tax return to book flights to Japan and South Korea. Now I’m worried I won’t be able to afford as much as I thought. I’m worrying about all the trips I have coming up this year and whether I’ll be able to afford everything I want to. Luckily my wages go up in March so hopefully I won’t need to worry so much anymore. But it’s definitely stressing me out at the moment.

34. An embarrassing moment

Oh Gosh, which one do I pick? We’ll go with the first one that pops into my head. A few weeks ago I was in the kitchen with my headphones on when I saw a shadow bobbing around by the front door so I assumed someone had knocked and I hadn’t heard. I opened the door and discovered the shadow was that of the man standing at the bus stop at the end of my drive. We looked at each other for a good ten seconds before I closed the door without saying anything.

35. Where I Work

I’d rather not say but I work for the council as an apprentice in the schools department. No, I don’t work for a school I just help manage business to do with schools. For example, admissions, attendance support, access and inclusion, teams like that.

36. Something that’s constantly on my mind

Plans for the week. What money needs paying out, where I need to be when, what I need to organise for next week etc. etc.

37. 3 Habits I have

I don’t know how to describe the first one but I like to dig like the tops of my fingers into things like the corner of my phone or dig my nails into them. I need to stop ‘cos it makes them look really gross. I’m not sure if this counts as a habit but I always worry people are talking about me at work when like they’re just talking in general. Also I can’t get out of bed in the morning unless I’ve spent a minimum of ten minutes on my phone.

38. My future goals

Travel and see as much of the world as possible. I’m not that fussed about what I do for a career as long as I like it. I don’t wanna wake up every morning and feel nothing but dread. I used to dread coming to work but now I’ve settled in I don’t mind – obviously I don’t wake up jumping for joy but there’s no dread anymore. As long as I have enough money to keep travelling I don’t mind.

39. Something I fantasise about

This is lame but getting to meet my favourite idols. Mostly BTS to be honest, that’d be amazing. Other than that just travelling really.

40. My favourite store

Waterstones I guess, I just really love books. I also love going to Camden Market but I’m not sure that counts.

41. My favourite food

Steak pie and chips bought from our local chip shop. Has to be pukka. Nothing can top that! A close second is Chinese takeout: Chicken chow mein, chicken balls and spring rolls. My mouths watering just thinking about it to be honest.

42. What I did yesterday

Went to work during the day and then in the evening me and my Mom went to see ‘Hedda Gabbler’. And it was strange, not gonna lie.

43. Something I’m talented at

There was a time when I would’ve said nothing but now I can happily say writing. I’ve always been talented at writing. My first drafts aren’t always great but I noticed at school if we ever had to do writing for a project I’d be on my third paragraph whilst most people were still trying to figure out their first sentence. I noticed again when me and my friend wrote each other a story – I wrote 3000 words in the space she wrote 700. Anything writing based just comes naturally to me.

44. My idea of the perfect date

There are a few, I wouldn’t even want anything too expensive. Something like bowling would be pretty fun. Or even just chilling at home and watching a movie. Or if like we set up an aesthetic looking picnic somewhere. I’m not really a fan of anything expensive or fancy so something simple and affordable is more up my street.

45. My celebrity crush

Didn’t we already cover this? 24K’s Cory (Well, all of 24K I guess), BTS’ J-Hope and ASTRO’s Moonbin. If you want a couple more we can include GOT7’s Jackson and Super Junior’s Heechul.

46. My favourite blog

I dip in and out of other people’s blogs but I don’t really have a favourite because it depends on how I feel that day and what I want to read about. One day I’ll love going through K-Pop blogs, some days through book blogs and some days through travel blogs. I have a lot of respect for people who can pick like their main interest because my blog is all over the place with what my interests are.

47. Number of kids I want

Sometimes I don’t mind the idea of kids. But that’s my ideal version of what my child be. When you have a child you have to accept your kid no matter what. What if they support Trump? What if they don’t respect women? What if they join a satanic cult and kill me in the middle of the night? You can’t predict what kind of child you’re going to have. And also the thought of a child is all well and good until something comes along that you want to do but you have to put your child first. And truthfully, I’m too selfish to have a child. But at least I can admit that before I have any.

48. Do I smoke/drink?

49. One word that describes me

Oh wow, um… Caring? I hope.

50. My favourite quote

I’m not sure I have one but I like the song lyric ‘nobody else is going to put it right for me, nobody but me is going to change my story’. I love that.

There we go! I hope you learnt a little more about me and found that relatively interesting.

First Song I Listened to By My Favourite K-Pop Groups

Girls Generation.jpg

I always think it’s interesting to hear how people became a K-Pop fan or a fan of a certain group so I thought I’d write a list of the first song I ever heard by groups I love now then compare it to my current favourite song by that group! Enjoy.

Crayon Pop

First Song: Bar Bar Bar

Crayon Pop Bar Bar Bar gif.gif

Favourite Song: FM

Crayon Pop FM gif.gif

I went with Crayon Pop first because they were the first K-Pop group I listened to knowing that they were K-Pop (I did watch an Orange Caramel music video first technically but at the time I thought they were J-Pop). I was a big fan of Kyary Pamyu Pamyu who’s a J-Pop singer and when I was scrolling through Tumblr I found a photo with the caption ‘Lady Gaga with K-Pop group Crayon Pop’. Because I was a fan of J-Pop I decided I wanted to give K-Pop a try so I figured I might as well start with this group, Crayon Pop.

Now I love Crayon Pop to pieces now but I can’t deny that I did not like ‘Bar Bar Bar’ when I first heard it. Everything was a bit weird, their outfits, the music video, the song itself… But I hadn’t liked ‘Pon Pon Pon’ by Kyary when I’d first heard it so I decided to keep giving Crayon Pop a try until eventually the song grew on me. From then on I was absolute K-Pop trash.

Crayon Pop have a lot of great songs but unfortunately they’re mostly known for dancing with the helmets with ‘Bar Bar Bar’. ‘FM’ was the first comeback they had where I was officially a fan and I remember watching the music video when it dropped during a college lesson and praying my teacher wouldn’t notice. My favourite song was ‘Doo Doom Chit’ for a while but I think I prefer ‘FM’ that little bit more.

I’m so sad that Crayon Pop aren’t technically together anymore but it doesn’t stop me from hoping they’ll release something together soon, even if Soyul’s not there!

First Song: Heart Attack

AOA Heart Attack gif

Favourite Song: Mini Skirt

AOA Mini Skirt gif.gif

I’ve definitely mentioned this before but I couldn’t stand ‘Heart Attack’ when I first heard it. I wanted to listen to more K-Pop groups and at the time I only really listened to girl groups so I stuck on a ‘K-Pop Girl Group 2015’ playlist and started listening. I started to love most of the songs but I had to skip AOA’s ‘Heart Attack’ every time I heard it. Because I hated that song I assumed I wouldn’t like any AOA songs so I never really gave them a chance.

When they dropped their ‘Good Luck’ comeback everyone was raving about it so I checked it out… And actually really loved it. So I started listening to more of their stuff and now I’m a massive AOA fan. I wish Choa hadn’t left but hopefully AOA can continue promoting with the remaining members. My favourite song at the moment is ‘Mini Skirt’ but I did love their ‘Excuse Me’ comeback.

First Song: Overdose

EXO Overdose gif.gif

Favourite Song: Lotto

EXO Lotto gif.gif

EXO were the first boy group I ever listened to because everyone on Tumblr was talking about them. I hadn’t tried to get into any boy groups yet so I gave ‘Overdose’ a listen. Although I thought it was good I didn’t particularly love it or EXO all that much. That was when I figured out I was more of a girl group stan. I think I wouldn’t have bothered much more with EXO but when my friends became fans of K-Pop they started to like EXO so I checked them out some more. They have a few good songs but I don’t particularly know how I feel about them.

Red Velvet

First Song: Ice Cream Cake

Red Velvet Ice Cream Cake gif.gif

Favourite Song: Peek-A-Boo

Red Velvet Peek-A-Boo gif

I’d kind of heard of Red Velvet but never really gone out of my way to listen to them before until I saw a K-Pop cover dance group at London Comic Con a couple of years ago. They danced to ‘Ice Cream Cake’ and I got it stuck in my head so when I came home I started listening to it and quickly fell in love with the song.

I officially became a fan and started caring about them when they released ‘Dumb Dumb’ I loved that song from the moment I first heard it, it’s so catchy. For a while I thought they’d gone a bit downhill because I wasn’t a fan of ‘Russian Roulette’ at first but that song grew on me, so did ‘Rookie’ and ‘Red Flavour’. ‘Peek-A-Boo’ was another song that I loved immediately. I’d love to see Red Velvet live someday, I love them so much.

First Song: Um Oh Ah Yeh

Mamamoo Um Oh Ah Yeh gif.gif

Favourite Song: Aze Gag (Dad Jokes)

Mamamoo Aze Gag gif

Everyone and their dog was going on about Mamamoo at the time so I decided to give them a listen. Everyone had been bragging about their amazing vocals and I don’t think ‘Um Oh Ah Yeh’ is the best song to showcase that. I didn’t like it. I tried listening to ‘You’re The Best’ but I didn’t like that either. However I did really want to become a fan of their music because I knew all the girls names and I loved their personalities. So I gave them another chance.

I got into ‘You’re The Best’ first and it went from there. Mamamoo are one of those groups where their songs need a couple of listens before I can get into them. They’re one of my favourite groups now and I love them all, I can’t wait for their next comeback.

First Song: War of Hormone

BTS War of Hormone gif.gif

Favourite Song: Mic Drop

BTS Mic Drop gif.gif

When I first listened to BTS they were pretty popular but it was nothing compared to their popularity now. I wasn’t really fussed about listening to boy groups at the time because I was more interested in girl groups but I’d seen a couple of funny BTS vines posted by my friend Becca and I thought they were pretty funny so when Becca officially recommended them to me I gave them a listen. I didn’t really know what to think.

I can’t really remember my first impression of ‘War of Hormone’, I’m pretty sure I liked it but I didn’t love it or anything. Then I listened to ‘Dope’ and I remember being like “Oh my god this is intense” even though it wasn’t – I’ve mentioned that for a few songs, I was like shocked so easily back then. I think I would’ve remained a casual fan but Jess asked me for some K-Pop recommendations. I sent her like 5 girl groups and 2 boy groups, one being EXO and the other being BTS. She fell so hard for BTS that she made us go to Paris to see them at K-Con. And that is where I also fell in love with them. And now I’m absolute trash.

First Song: I Am the Best

2NE1 I Am The Best gif.gif

Favourite Song: Ugly

2NE1 Ugly gif.gif

I whacked on 2NE1 one day because I was looking for new girl groups to listen to and immediately recognised the song ‘I Am The Best’ because it had been in an advert. I can’t remember which advert but I remember I always saw it at Cineworld. I immediately loved the song because it was already kind of familiar to me. However when I tried to listen to more 2NE1 I wasn’t particularly a fan.

The next song I put on was ‘Come Back Home’ which sounded nothing like ‘I Am the Best’. I was kind of used to bands I listened to having similar sounding songs so at the time K-Pop kind of blew my mind because groups change concepts and sounds all the time. It took me a while but I kept listened to a ‘2NE1 Best Hits’ playlist and eventually I started to love several of their songs. I’m so sad they broke up, why did it have to end like this?

Girls’ Generation

First Song: I Got a Boy

Girls Generation I Got A Boy gif 2.gif

Favourite Song: I Got a Boy

Girls Generation I Got A Boy gif.gif

I love tons of Girls’ Generation songs now but I think my favourite will forever be ‘I Got a Boy’. I hated it when I first listened to it but after giving them several go’s I did eventually learn to love them. They were another group where I couldn’t believe how different their songs were to each other but once I got used to it I found I could listen to pretty much anything by them and love it.

I’m sad because although SM haven’t officially announced Girls’ Generation’s split it’s pretty obvious they’re not together anymore and I’m sad they didn’t have more comebacks in the time I was a fan. I became an official fan just before ‘Catch Me If You Can’ was released so I never had a comeback with Jessica. But I’ll continue to support whatever they choose to do in the future.

First Song: Bingo

24K Bingo gif.gif

Favourite Song: Hey You

24K Hey You gif.gif

I became a fan of 24K because they announced a European tour, they were coming to England and Jess gave them a listen and decided she wanted to go. So me and Becca decided to come too and before we knew it we were absolute 24K trash. We travelled to Amsterdam so just me and Becca could see them and then I ended up seeing them alone again in London because Becca and Jess were in Berlin.

I’m gonna be truthful and admit that the only song I really knew properly when I went to see them in London was Bingo. I had a great time because 24K are amazing and so fun to see live but yep, I only really knew Bingo… However after the concert me and Becca both ordered their album which I’m still low-key salty about because I ordered mine just 20 minutes after her and she got her album within three days and I had to wait over a month. And she got my biases photo card. Goddammit.

Anyway, I started listening to a lot more of 24K’s stuff because they’re really good and for a while my favourite song kept changing but now it’s definitely ‘Hey You’, that song is so good. I can’t wait to see what 24K release this year because I know it’ll be good!

Feel free to comment the first song you heard by your favourite K-Pop group, I’m interested to hear!

My Bucket List

Amsterdam 3.jpg

I was inspired by my friend Becca’s post which you can read here [x] – her blog is fantastic by the way so make sure you give her posts a read. Looking at Becca’s list made me realise some of those things were pretty achievable (like throwing a pizza like a Frisbee, something we have been on about for years now but never done even though it’d be so easy) so I wanted to write an OFFICIAL bucket list.

I’ve written a couple and I’ve actually managed to achieve some for example seeing a Broadway show, going to a different continent and meeting the Supernatural cast but I wanted to write a new one and then next year I wanted to write a post about what I achieved and what I still have left to achieve.

Bucket lists are a lovely idea because I feel like we get so caught up in work, family, friends, and all our other commitments that we kind of forget to just have fun and do something different once in a while. So here’s my list, 50 things I want to achieve or do before I die – not in any particular order!

1. Go abroad by myself
2. Learn to speak the basics of another language
3. Lose weight until I’m at least a size 14
4. Leave copies of my favourite books around London for strangers to find
5. Go to Japan
6. Publish a book
7. Spend at least a month outside of England
8. See five Broadway shows
9. Keep a journal for a full year
10. Go to a K-Pop concert in Seoul
11. Get a job that I love
12. Take my Mom on a holiday abroad that I’ve paid for
13. Go to all the Disney parks across the world
14. Own all the Studio Ghibli films
15. Get a tattoo
16. Go to America with Becca, Hirst and Jess
17. Join an amateur performing arts group
18. Visit Stonehenge
19. Learn sign language
20. Raise money for The National Autistic Society
21. Meet Achievement Hunter
22. Go ghost-hunting
23. Visit every continent
24. Wake up before 6AM every day for two weeks
25. See a ballet
26. Order room service
27. Send a message in a bottle
28. Sponsor a child
29. Do a colour run
30. Throw a dart at a map and just go
31. Celebrate a holiday in a different country
32. Go to the Crooked Forest in Poland
33. See the northern lights
34. Walk on the Great Wall of China
35. Book a holiday where I find out the location at the airport
36. Move out
37. Go somewhere in a limo
38. Visit the Doll Hospital in Lisbon
39. Float in the Dead Sea
40. See elephants in the wild
41. Watch the sunrise on the beach
42. Fly first class
43. Visit the Warrens Occult Museum
44. Keep a dream journal for a full year
45. Learn to play at least one song on an instrument
46. Dedicate my first book to my Little Nan
47. Learn to drive
48. Have a year where I read at least two new books a month
49. Go to Canada
50. Watch every Studio Ghibli film

There we go, 50 things that I want to achieve before I die. I tried to keep them relatively realistic and with things that I’ll still be interested in when I’m a bit older. For example I had a few more K-Pop related ones but I removed them because by this time next year I might not like them anymore. I think everything else on the list is something I’ll still want to do by the time I’m forty so it gives me something to look forward to.

A couple of things on the list were slight cheats because they’re things I already know I’m going to achieve this year but I made sure they were things I would’ve included regardless.

I’ll post an update at the start of 2019 of how many things on this bucket list I managed to achieve and I can’t wait! Feel free to comment what’s top of your bucket list or a link to your own bucket list.

Ten K-Pop Songs I Can’t Stand

I don’t mean any offence by this I’m literally just making it for fun. Some of the groups on here are groups that I love they just happen to have one song that I honestly can’t stand. I wanna make it clear that I think all these groups are talented; I’m just not particularly a fan of the song.

10. CLC – Pepe

CLC Pepe gif.gif

I’ve put this song at the bottom because I feel like I could probably eventually learn to love it. I do like CLC but when I first listened to them I didn’t because ‘Pepe’ was the first song I listened to. I’m going to be truly honest and admit I listened to it because I like the Pepe meme. There’s nothing wrong with that, right? I didn’t like it so I assumed I didn’t like CLC but luckily I was wrong because they have some great songs! I’m just not sure how much I like ‘Pepe’.

9. GOT7 – If You Do

GOT7 If You Do gif.gif

I’m aware that this isn’t a bad song but it’s just really not my taste in music. I love GOT7, my favourite songs are ‘Just Right’ and ‘Hard Carry’. Interestingly a lot of people hated ‘Hard Carry’ and said they hit rock bottom musically but like that’s one of their good songs? Some of their earlier songs aren’t great like their debut ‘Girls Girls Girls’ but I actually quite like that one to a point. I don’t really like ‘Stop Stop It’ either. I feel like GOT7 has a type of music where you either love that song or hate that song. And I happen to dislike ‘If You Do’ unfortunately.

8. Tiffany – I Just Wanna Dance

Tiffany I Just Wanna Dance gif.gif

I was so excited for Tiffany to get a solo because I love her and I was so ready to support her and have the MV on repeat… But I didn’t like it. I wasn’t a fan of ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ either. Again, it’s not that the songs are bad but they’re just not my type at all. They’re too chill and I just can’t get into them. I still love Tiffany and think she has an amazing voice but I just wasn’t a fan of those songs.

7. Big Bang – FXXK IT

Big Bang Fxxk It gif.gif

I remember my friend Becca moaning that she couldn’t watch Big Bang’s new music video because she was at work and I was at home at the time so I decided to watch it just to annoy her. I’m not like a massive fan of Big Bang but I like ‘Bang Bang Bang’ and ‘Fantastic Baby’ so I thought I’d like this one. I did not. It’s another one that’s just a bit too chill for me.

6. 2NE1 – I Love You

2NE1 I Love You gif.gif

2NE1 have some amazing songs but this is not one of them. It’s so boring and when my friend listened to it she remarked “It sounds like a Pussycat Dolls song.” 2NE1 songs can be a bit hit and miss because I also don’t like ‘Hate You’ but most of their songs are so good like I love ‘Go Away’, ‘Ugly’ and ‘I am the Best’. But this song just doesn’t do it for me unfortunately.

5. Oh My Girl – Cupid

Oh My Girl Cupid gif.gif

I love Oh My Girl, they’re one of my favourite girl groups at the moment but their debut song is one of the most annoying things I’ve ever heard. I actually quite like cute girl group concepts but this one is just nothing but irritating. It’s kind of catchy but it’s not catchy enough to forget it’s a bad song. I have tried several times to get into it because I love Oh My Girl but I just can’t do it.

4. Solar & Wheein (Mamamoo) – Angel

Solar and Wheein gif.gif

This is another song that I’m aware isn’t bad but I still don’t like. I was excited at the thought of two sub-units in Mamamoo and I loved Hwasa and Moonbyul’s ‘Dab Dab’. So I was looking forward to listening to Solar and Wheein’s ‘Angel’. I was so bored! I’m not a massive fan of slow songs but there are some good ones. This is not one of them unfortunately. I get bored listening to this so quickly and I can’t understand why it was more popular than ‘Dab Dab’. To be fair the studio version of ‘Dab Dab’ isn’t great, the live version is much better.

3. EXO – Wolf

EXO Wolf gif.gif

I will admit that I do have this song on my iPod because it’s pretty funny, let’s be real. Even most EXO fans don’t love this song and I’m not really sure what SM were thinking at the time because EXO have some really good songs – ‘Monster’, ‘Lotto’, ‘Overdose’ and ‘Call Me Baby’ just to name a few! ‘Wolf’ is horrendous but I must admit it does make me laugh so I do listen to it every so often. But I wouldn’t go as far as to say I genuinely liked the song.

2. CL – Doctor Pepper

CL Doctor Pepper gif.gif

I love CL and I think she has some great songs but this is not one of them. I’m so glad she redeemed herself with ‘Hello Bitches’ a few months later because if her songs had continued to sound like ‘Doctor Pepper’ I would’ve given up being a fan there and then. I’m having a look and technically it’s Diplo’s song but the fact she heard the song and still agreed to collab with it is enough. I can’t stand this song but I still love CL.

1. AOA – Heart Attack

AOA Heart Attack gif.gif

I love AOA but oh my god I can’t stand this song. I’ve written about this before but this was the first AOA song I’d heard and I thought all of them sounded like that so I didn’t attempt to listen to anymore. When I eventually became a fan I decided to give this song another listen just to give it a go. Nothing has changed, I still can’t stand this song and I’m not even 100% sure why. I just think it’s really annoying! I love you AOA but this song is bad, I’m sorry.

So there are ten K-Pop songs that I just can’t stand, feel free to leave me a comment with K-Pop songs that you can’t stand!

Travel Fails!

Lithuania 2.jpg

I love travelling so much, especially with my three best friends but it’s safe to say that something goes wrong on pretty much every trip we go on. So I thought I’d write a quick post about some of the things that have gone wrong on our trips because although they weren’t fun at the time they do make good stories now!

Our first trip abroad was to Paris so that we could go to K-Con Paris (except for Hirst who just wanted to come to Paris) – the concert tickets weren’t released until a month before we’d need to leave so we rushed to book everything in time. Unfortunately everywhere we looked plane tickets were quite high so in the end we ended up booking a coach which was extremely cheap and would get us to and from Paris!

The coach on the way to Paris wasn’t too bad; it was an overnight trip so it wasn’t the worst – however there were a number of delays, the biggest one being when we reached the ferry. The captain wouldn’t let us on the 11:30PM one (which our driver was pissed about) so we had to wait for the 12:50AM ferry. This wasn’t too fun but we didn’t have any commitments in Paris to worry too much about so the delay wasn’t the worst thing ever.

However, the journey back was Hell. We had to get up at stupid o’clock the morning after the concert (I blame Jess for insisting we watch the concert videos before we went to sleep, I knew it was a bad idea) so we were all extremely tired and during the journey back we realised the only food we’d thought to bring with us were three mars bars and a box of maltesers. Hirst and Jess had woken up so late they hadn’t been able to get breakfast and for some reason we’d left the boxes of cereal on the side instead of bringing them with us. I shared out the mars bars (poor Becca didn’t get one), Jess shared out the maltesers and that was that… All of us were looking forward to getting on the ferry as there was a proper café so we could get a proper meal. We were all disappointed to discover we were actually going on the euro tunnel and not the ferry. We wouldn’t be getting a meal.

Luckily the driver did pull into a service station when we got into England so we finally managed to get something to eat but I just cannot believe our stupidity? Bloody three mars bars and a box of maltesers for a nine hour journey? Hirst had about 999 kinder Buenos but they were in her suitcase in the hold area of the coach so they were no good.

We had more delays on the way back meaning we missed our coach from Victoria that would’ve taken us back to Wolverhampton so we could catch the last train home. Instead we had to book a different coach which took us to Heathrow where we had to catch another coach to get back to Birmingham International. Luckily Hirst’s Mum came to pick us up as there weren’t any trains running by this point and I don’t think I’ve ever been so relieved to see her to be honest. It took us about eighteen hours to get home. Eighteen hours from bloody France to England. It’s less than an hour on the plane.

Unfortunately that wasn’t the only bad luck we had in Paris. I wasn’t impressed with the hotel we’d stayed in so when we got home I decided to write a quick review on tripadvisor because I love writing reviews. Because we’d booked everything in such a hurry we hadn’t bothered reading the reviews of the hotel beforehand so I was pretty horrified to read so many reviews of people claiming their rooms had been broken into whilst they were asleep and their possessions stolen.

I popped up to my friends to tell them and they recalled the moment we’d checked in the man at reception had fished out a key at random from a basket and given it to us. We are 100% certain that the keys open every hotel room as most of the other reviewers believed too. We were very lucky not to have our room broken into – when we went to K-Con Paris we left Hirst in the hotel room by herself. I dread to think what could’ve happened.

Also the room next to ours had suffered a fire the week before and the whole corridor stank. For our first trip abroad together it wasn’t a very comforting hotel.

Paris Hotel.jpg

We did have a lot of fun sightseeing but disaster struck even then. This one is down to my own stupidity and awkwardness more than anything else. When we visited the Eiffel Tower I somehow got split up from my friends so Hirst and Becca were walking at the front together, Jess was off to the left and I was off to the right when some lady with a clipboard approached me. Now I hate being mean to people so I smiled and listened to what she had to say and signed her clipboard for her charity. I tried to ignore the part about a ‘donation’ but she pointed at it so I fished in my purse and gave her five euros which I had thought was pretty generous.

Now some lady had also been talking to Jess, had taken her five euros and walked off but for some reason came over to me and said “Actually it’s five for the disabled and five for the orphans.” Hang on, what kind of bullshit charity collects for both the disabled and the orphans? But I was confused and still trying to be nice so I also handed her a ten euro note and then she stuck her bloody finger in my purse and was like “Give us that twenty” so by this point I was like um no, I asked for my five euro note back and let them walk off with the ten. I was salty for the rest of the day. I hope they were happy with that ten euros, I truly do.

I also got called ‘Lady Gaga’ because of my outfit by some random man selling mini Eiffel Towers – I didn’t have the best time at the Eiffel Tower to be truthful.

Amsterdam 5.jpg

After the hotel disaster in Paris we decided to do more research for our trip to Amsterdam. This time we used airbnb and found what we thought was a nice apartment. It looked cosy, convenient and for some reason we were all really excited at the thought of looking after this man’s cats. We messaged him and he agreed we could stay there. Our accommodation was sorted and we were free to enjoy the trip!

We flew there on Hirst’s birthday – it wasn’t great timing but me and Becca really wanted to see 24K so we couldn’t go at any other time. When we reached the apartment I did start to feel bad because Hirst looked like she was going to have a break down. Although the apartment was a good size it was a bit grubby and filled with weird stuff. While most of it was interesting I did have to remove a creepy mask from mine and Hirst’s bedroom (and placed it in a room designed for a child that our host just hadn’t mentioned at all) and Becca came into our room with a jar she’d found which said ‘Every Artist is a Cannibal’. There were teeth in the jar.

It wasn’t too bad but it was bad enough for Hirst and Becca to say that next time we’d just pay the difference and stay in a decent hotel. However apartments are convenient because you can cook your own food etc. Or so we thought.

Amsterdam Apartment 2.jpg

The next day after a long day of sight-seeing we came back to the apartment really hungry so we decided to make some of the food we’d bought earlier. Me, Hirst and Jess were going to have microwavable burgers and I’m pretty sure our vegetarian friend Becca was going to have microwavable pancakes. Luckily for me and Becca we offered to wash up while Hirst and Jess ‘cooked’ the food so we escaped the horror of what they found.

Bear in mind his kitchen was already the grubbiest room in the apartment like we’d had to lay down towels in his fridge so that our food didn’t touch his dirty fridge but again it wasn’t too bad at this point. Until Hirst found a plate in the microwave with another plate on top. She brought it down, took the plate off and discovered the mouldiest plate of food she had ever seen in her life. It must’ve been there months. I’m pretty sure Hirst actually vomited and both of them lost their appetite.

We decided to text our host, who had told us he was only 15 minutes away if we needed him so we decided to ask him to come and clean up his grubby food and maybe give his microwave a wipe while he was at it – you know, if he felt generous. He replied to tell us he was in Belgium and that he didn’t see what the problem was.

In the end we sat in mine and Hirst’s room making sandwiches whilst we made an official complaint to airbnb. We packed our bags in case he came back and kicked us out of his apartment. Luckily he didn’t kick us out and we could finish our holiday – we just couldn’t make any of the food we’d bought now and had to eat out for every meal because his kitchen was so rank that we couldn’t use it.

Amsterdam Apartment 3.jpg

When we went back to his airbnb page we realised that although all the English reviews were positive, which were the ones we’d read before booking, all the foreign ones we now translated said the general hygiene wasn’t great. I guess we just can’t win.

Luxembourg 8.jpg

Luckily our accommodation in Luxembourg on Jess’ birthday was a lot nicer. Which was just as well as from the moment we made it to Luxembourg the four of us were absolutely exhausted. That morning Hirst’s Mom had driven us to the airport at 4AM so we could make our flight on time. Therefore I’d been up since 3AM, I’m pretty sure the others had been up even earlier so by midday I was ready to drop.

We did our best. We walked around sightseeing as much as possible before the four of us flopped onto a tour bus to look at what we could do the next day. I was sat by Becca and the music played through the headphones between information was making me even sleepier. Not as much as Becca though who genuinely fell asleep several times. In the end we had to mess around on Snapchat to keep ourselves awake.

Me + Becca Snapchat.jpg

We were in the hotel by about 5PM and in bed by about 9:30PM. We completely underestimated how tired we’d be – even the next day after a long sleep I was still exhausted.

Another slight fail we had while we were there was that we kept entering tourist attractions and not realising what they were. We took a photo outside of what we thought was a famous art museum – it was an opera house. We went to the bock but didn’t realise we were there so left. We visited the palace and thought it was a parliament building so we didn’t appreciate it at all. We kept doing it everywhere we went – I apologise to everyone in Luxembourg, we’re such idiots.

Luxembourg 7

Lithuania 6.jpg

The biggest disaster in Lithuania had to be Jess getting sick. We all completely blame Becca. The same week we went to Lithuania Becca had just decided to become a vegan. I imagine eating out in England would be hard enough for a vegan but it was much worse abroad. So on Saturday night after Becca had barely eaten anything all day we went to a vegan restaurant where she could take her pick from the menu. I’d never heard of anything on the menu and they didn’t have the random thing I ordered so I ended up going for pumpkin ravioli because Jess and Becca had gone for it.

I remember taking the first bite and telling my friends “actually its bearable” which was a big deal for me as I’m a fussy eater. However, by the third mouthful I’d completely changed my mind. I tried to eat it as quickly as possible but I just couldn’t do it so I ended up leaving a lot. Becca ate most of hers but Jess completely finished her plate. That night she was up and down all night vomiting. I was dead to the world as was Hirst so luckily Becca got up to take care of her.

First thing in the morning we left Jess in the room whilst the rest of us headed to the nearest convenience store (a fifteen minute walk away and up a bloody hill, of course) to get her a good stock of water, dry food and a teddy to cheer her up. We brought them to her and then headed back out for a day of sightseeing. We all felt pretty bad about leaving her.

We followed Jess’ itinerary that she’d printed beforehand and went to a park that was about a forty minute bus ride away. After all the walking we’d done the day before none of us particularly minded being on the bus for forty minutes. However we paid to enter the park where we spent maybe an hour before realising we could either get the bus in ten minutes time or wait two hours for the next bus. If we waited two hours we’d miss our reservation at the cat café so we had to sprint back to catch the bus back into town.

Lithuania 9.jpg

Once back we realised we had a bit of time to kill before our cat café reservation so we went to a museum that was free with our pass thing we’d bought the day before just to kill some time. To be honest we always go to museums but most of the time we end up a bit bored.

So we went to this museum, I think it was the ‘National Museum of Lithuania’ or something like that and it all started out pretty well. Then when we got to one section we noticed this lady was following us and we were like ‘oh okay’ but she was trying to be subtle about it and she really wasn’t? Eventually we decided we’d had enough and headed off and she glared at us as we left! So we kind of laughed it off but when we got down to the reception area there was a long corridor full of exhibits and there were like four staff members in this long line and I kid you not they were all giving us the most foul looks ever.

Neither of us really knew why but we quietly left the museum and had a bit of a laugh about it outside because we honestly hadn’t done anything wrong. We’d had a bit of a giggle but we were quiet and we didn’t touch anything. I told Hirst and Becca I wanted to take a Polaroid of them in front of the museum and as I went to do it I noticed two of the staff members standing in the doorway of the entrance, still glaring at us! They’d been quite nice to us when we’d walked in, I honestly have no idea what changed and how every single one of them hated us for the same reason?

Museum of Hatred.jpg

The staff at the cat café were lovely and we had the best time ever anyway.

So there are our trip fails so far! I imagine we’ll go on plenty more trips so before long we’ll have way more trip fails and I’ll be sure to share them with you guys. Please feel free to comment your own travel fails, I’d love to hear them!
